Cake Smash Photo Shoot | IsabelYet another one if my babies just came back to the studio for her first birthday cake smash photo shoot! I first met Isabel’s gorgeous parents for their maternity photography session, and when they later bought their baby girl into my Frenchs Forest studio soon after she was born for her newborn session. So now Isabel is one! I can’t believe that a whole year has passed already! Madness! This sweet girl still fitted into the birds nest prop, but only just! She has grown into such a beauty! Sometimes when working with babies and toddlers, even the best laid plans can go awry. Isabel’s mum had booked her session working around Isabel’s usual nap time. Of course, Isabel had other ideas and arrived at the studio a very sleepy girl! I always tell my clients never to worry if things like this happen, because that’s life, and that is the point of photography after all! Isabel took a little bit of convincing to touch her beautiful birthday smash cake. Not very much made it into her mouth, but by the time we provided her with a wooden spoon and a pink spatular, she had fun nonetheless! At one point, Isabel’s mum even joined in the cake smash fun too, which was a first! We had smiles, we had looks of intense concentration as well as intrigue. We even had a few tears, but they were ridiculously cute tears! And after all, babies do cry, and it’s not a bad thing to grab a shot and record that for posterity too! It was a pleasure hanging out with this family to celebrate this big milestone in Miss Isabel’s life. And as an added benefit, they even managed to take their smash cake home to share with friends for morning tea!
